The Jets are now focused (finally) on their football game versus the Bears after a turbulent. Zach Wilson return to lineup

They had a lot to think about after a week in which they had to bench a player they had considered to be their franchise starter.

Zach Wilson, selected with the second overall pick only a year ago, won't play today because Mike White will start and Joe Flacco will serve as his backup.

Robert Saleh, the head coach, told NFL Network Insider Mike Garafolo late this week that "Zach handled it like a pro."

"Like any reasonable person, he disputed it. He had a successful week of practice, nevertheless, at the same time."

White, a knowledgeable former backup, practiced with the first team while Flacco worked with the backups.

Wilson was left with scout-team opportunities, which Saleh thinks will be advantageous for him. Zach Wilson return to lineup

Nobody contests Wilson's talent. Though they have opted to remain silent in public, the Jets do hope to have him return as the team's starter.

Wilson had a terrible week. After the Patriots defeated him in Week 11, he claimed he had not let the defense down by scoring three points.

Wilson later apologized to the team for his remarks and said he didn't mean them the way they came across.
