On March 23, 1992, in Melbourne, Australia, Kyrie Irving was born. American college basketball players Drederick and Elizabeth Irving, who are his parents, met while competing in Australia. In West Orange, New Jersey, Kyrie and his sister Asia were raised. Kyrie was a three-sport star in basketball, soccer, and track at Montclair Kimberley Academy. He guided his basketball team to the state title as a junior. Kyrie enrolled in Duke University in 2010.
He became one of the top college basketball players very fast, scoring 17.5 points and 4.3 assists per game as a freshman. In 2011, Kyrie assisted Duke in making it to the NCAA Championship game, where they fell to University of Connecticut. Kyrie made the decision to enter the NBA Draft after two years at Duke.
