On March 23, 1992, in Melbourne, Australia, Kyrie Irving was born. American college basketball players Drederick and Elizabeth Irving, who are his parents, met while competing in Australia. In West Orange, New Jersey, Kyrie and his sister Asia were raised. Kyrie was a three-sport star in basketball, soccer, and track at Montclair Kimberley Academy. He guided his basketball team to the state title as a junior. Kyrie enrolled in Duke University in 2010.

On February 28, 2014, Irving recorded his first triple-double, tallying a career-high 21 points, 12 assists, and ten rebounds in a 99-79 victory over Utah.
