Brittney Griner will celebrate her 32nd birthday away from her home, her loved ones

and her basketball family on Tuesday, which also happens to be the 243rd day of her unjustifiable detention in Russia.

Since February 17, Griner, a former Phoenix Mercury and USA Basketball center,

has been detained in Russia on suspicion of bringing vape cartridges containing cannabis oil into the nation.

 Griner was given a nine-year prison term on August 4.

Currently, efforts are being made to set up a diplomatic prisoner swap that would enable her to return to the United States.

Brittney Griner, who can cover a lot of ground very quickly, ranks fourth all-time in career WNBA blocks (716) and holds the record for most blocks in a season (129, 2014).
